Skin Exams

Most skin cancers can be detected early and treated easily. We offer each patient a full body exam starting at your scalp to your toes. Pictures can be taken to document and detect changes in the skin, allowing us to compare your changes from previous exams to determine whether a mole or lesion is changing.

• Basal Cell Carcinoma is the most common from of skin cancer; an estimated 2.8 million are diagnosed annually in the U.S.
• An estimated 700,000 cases of Squamous Cell Carcinoma are diagnosed annually in the U.S.
• Actinic Keratosis is the most common pre-cancer, affecting more than 58 million Americans.

If melanoma is recognized and treated early, it is almost always curable, but if it is not, the cancer can advance and spread to other parts of the body, where it becomes hard to treat and can be fatal. While it is not the most common of the skin cancers, it causes the most deaths. The American Cancer Society estimates that at present, more than 135,000 new cases of melanoma in the US are diagnosed in a year. In 2016, an estimated 76,380 of these will be invasive melanomas, with about 46,870 in males and 29,510 in women.

Skin Cancer

Skin cancer is the most common of all cancers, afflicting more than two million Americans each year and that number is increasing dramatically. If diagnosed and treated early, skin cancer is 100% curable. The first sign may be a slow growing bump, a changing mole, bleeding, a non-healing area or a dry/scaly rough patch. Have us check any suspicious or changing skin lesions. Treatment is best when cancer is found early. Limiting your sun exposure, practicing sun safety tips, and getting regular skin exams are extremely important.
